Hi! I am Pastor Jerry Jaquess. I grew up in Southern California where I attended the Ontario (California)
Church of the Nazarene. I was just another ordinary ornery kid in the church. When I was in the sixth grade I was in Jr. Church watching slides from our teacher’s most recent trip to Africa when I heard God call me to full-time ministry. At that time I thought He was calling me to the Mission Field. I pursued that calling going to Haiti in my junior year of high school.
After graduating High School I attended Northwest Nazarene College and continued to follow God’s call to missions later going to Costa Rica and Venezuela. Just before graduation from N.N.C. I learned that I would be just two (non-essential) credits short of graduating. I was discouraged and I moved back to Southern California where I worked for a major grocery company in San Diego for several months. In the mean time God continued to call. Following a very bad car accident in Idaho, I moved back and took the two insignificant classes to finish my degree. During this time I met my beautiful wife, Kim.
I went on to Seminary at Nazarene Theological Seminary in Kansas City, Missouri. Kim and I were married the next year. I got involved in several ministries while I was at NTS. God was shaping my call. I worked in the inner city as well as big suburban churches. By the time I was ready to graduate, God was calling me to a pastoral ministry.
Following graduation I took a church in Portales, New Mexico where I stayed for five and a half years. My family and I moved to Colorado Springs, CO in 1997 to begin our ministry at Central.
I like to incorporate humor in my sermons and try to make the Word relevant to everyone who attends. Church should be the last place a person should be bored! People should be inspired
in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Believers should be spurred on and pre-believers should be introduced into a relationship with Jesus!
Now that you know a little bit about me I hope that you will stop by so that I can get to know you better.
Pastor Jerry
